Tour Itinerary
Day | Program |
01 | Upon arrival in Islamabad, we will transfer to the hotel for some rest. In the afternoon, we will have a sightseeing tour of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Overnight stay at the hotel. |
02 | We can either fly to Skardu or drive to Chilas. If we fly, we’ll have a one-hour scenic flight with views of the mountains, including Nanga Parbat. If flying is not possible, we’ll drive to Chilas via Babusar Pass and spend the night there before embarking on our trek to K2. |
03 | Drive to Skardu 2286m (11-12 hours): Full day at Deosai Plateau excursion, it is good to gain some good height before trek. Or After relatively early breakfast we will start our journey to Skardu. Driving on Karakoram Highway is an adventure in itself which is an unforgettable experience. Another fantastic drama unfolds when Nanga Parbat starts to play “hide and seek”, before we have a clear view at Thalaichi. At “Unique Place in the World” we have an opportunity to see three world’s highest ranges Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush. Driving further north at Juglot we turn right to begin our trip to Skardu. On arrival in Skardu, we transfer to hotel for overnight stay. |
04 | We will have free day for preparations and briefing in Skardu or sightseeing of the city. |
05 | Drive to Askoli by Jeeps. 6 hours We start our six to seven-hour-long adventurous jeep ride to Askoli with local crew and supplies along the Shigar and Braldo Valleys to the road ahead to Askoli. The last dwelling of about 60 houses, the villagers are self-sufficient and grow their cereals, vegetables, and fruits. Smiling and welcoming villagers greet us as we pass through villages on the rugged dirt and stone road. We have our lunch and a short photo break en route, the view on the way is breathtaking. |
06 | Trek to Jhola (Pulley Bridge) (6-7 hours): We follow a trail next to the Braldu River which is an easy gentle walk and once passed the snout of the Biafo Glacier, we arrive at the green oasis of Korofong. After lunch we continue our trek from Korofong we follow the path up a side valley and cross the Dumardo River coming out of Choktoi and Panmah Glaciers by a bridge. We then walk for another half an hour or so to reach the Jhola Camp. Overnight in tents. |
07 | Trek to Paiju 3380m 5-6 hours: The trail alternates between the river bed and terraces above, crossing boulder fields and side streams until coming to the Paiju. Paiju is a green oasis under the shadows of Paiju Peak (6611m). From this camp, we have the first views of the immense Baltoro Glacier and snowy peaks. Paiju campsite is often crowded and noisy. Overnight in tents. |
08 | Trek to Urdukas. 7-8 hours Today’s walk is a bit longer and exhausting. After a thirty to forty-five minute walk we approach Baltoro Glacier. As we trek, every single step gains height on the undulate trail until we reach Urdukus campsite. Heavily used Urdukus is much larger than Paiju. The meadows above Urdukus offer one of the Karakoram’s finest panoramas. All the Trango Towers are visible, including Nameless Tower, which has the world’s longest granite face. Overnight in tents. |
09 | Trek to Goro II. 6-7 hours The trail descends and goes straight out to the glacier’s middle. The trail from here to Concordia, although still obvious, is less of a highway, and remains on the Glacier. Masherbrum’s sheer granite north face and snow-crowned summit (7821m) come into view as you walk east up the Baltoro Glacier. The spectacular views of Muztagh Tower 7270m, Musherbrum 7800m, and Gasherbrum IV at the head of the Baltoro and Concordia are stunning. The campsite is actually on a glacier where ledges have been leveled out for the tents, providing not much comfort yet a pleasing experience. |
10 | Trek to Concordia. 5 hours A four to five hours walk on the glacier takes us to the “The Throne Room of Mountain Gods”, the most impressive campsite anywhere in the world. As we walk on the glacier to reach Concordia, a magic spell embraces us. If the weather is clear luckily, we will have the most magnificent views of the mountain giants of Karakoram including the crown K2, which majestically stands just in front of you. The peaks tower over you and all appear to be tantalizingly close, Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, Chogolisa 25,147ft/7,665m, and Broad Peak 26,401ft/8,047m are some of the high Karakoram giants to be seen. |
11 | Full-day rest at Concordia while enjoying one of the best places on earth…. |
12 | Trek to K-2 Base Camp to see K2 from its bottom…. One of the most enchanting and memorable days you will witness. It is a 6-7 hours gentle walk to reach the K2 base camp. Overnight at k2 base camp. |
13 | After a great morning and leisurely breakfast, we shall retrace our steps to Concordia. Overnight at Concordia. |
14 | Optional day excursion to Gashbrum 1 & 2 (8080m & 8035m height) Base Camp A free day for local explorations and optional excursion to Gashbrum 1 & 2, today’s day excursion is optional. Those who wish to take a rest and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains can stay at Concordia. |
15 | Trek back to Urdukus. |
16 | Trek back to Paiju. |
17 | Trek Back to Karofong. |
18 | Trek to Askoli and drive to Skardu Trek to Askoli and board jeeps to drive through villages to Skardu. Overnight in hotel. |
19 | Drive to Karimabad in Hunza and stay overnight at the hotel. The journey will take 12-13 hours with several stops for lunch and sightseeing. |
20 | Free day at Karimabad while exploring the area. Baltit Fort, Altit Fort, and Altit Village will be the main attraction. Overnight at the hotel. |
21 | Another day in Hunza to explore the Nagar Valley and sunset at Duiker view point. |
22 | Morning drive to Upper Hunza, spending time at Attabad Lake, Gulmit. Return drive to Gilgit for overnight stay. |
23 | Catching early morning flight to Islamabad. Half day city tour. Overnight in Islamabad. |
24 | The tour ends and catching flights back home. |
